Gas and electrical safety checks are required every 2 years, currently on agreements from 29 March 2021 onward, extending to every Victorian rental agreement from 13 October 2026 regardless of when it started.

Smoke alarms: every 12 months. Electrical safety: every 2 years, by a licensed or registered electrician. Gas safety: every 2 years, by a gasfitter registered for Type A gas appliance servicing.
